Are .SMS and .GG files in binary format?
Can you edit them with a hex editor like you can with Genesis .BIN files?

LALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALA!
LALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALA!
Ahh...
Back when I was a lad, the best programming language was BASIC. None of this fancy "C" or "Assembler" shit. Yeah. BASIC was the stuff.
10 REM cruddy little program that probably wouldn't work
20 REM (c) 1999 unfnknblvbl
30 REM
40 FOR n = 1 TO 99
50 CHR$240 = &X10001010, &X01110100, &X10011010, &X00110010, &X11011101, &X10001000, &X00110010
60 IF t < 517 THEN PRINT CHR$240 ELSE GOTO 80
70 IF t = n THEN GOTO 100
80 PRINT n*t
90 GOTO 60
100 END
Ah, yes... All hail BASIC!!!

but I prefer Visual Basic or Qbasic, not that spaghetti code shit you just typed.
dim x, y, z as integer
x = 100 / (RND * 2)
y = 50 / (RND * 2)
z = x * y
print z
Same shit...less code.

Bah, give me Applesoft BASIC anyday. It's got it all: line numbers, spagetti code, the possibility of rewriting your code at runtime through the magic of POKE, computed GOSUBs, a truly screwed up "DOS" interface, etc. If you have the memory expansion card, you even have the chance to rewrite parts of the interpreter. Let's see you do that sort of stuff in your candy-assed Visual Basic. :-)

No it's not.
There is no specially edited character to print onscreen.
That's what all that "CHR$240 = &X10101010" was
It drew a picture:

### #
# ## #
## #
## ### #

# # # #
Don't ask me what it is, I don't know! (looks kinda like a dog)
