or how about movies?

That is, a save state combined with button combinations...both ideas sound pretty simple to implement (although I don't know if it is or not) and the Meka interface would support a player console (with play/hard pause, record, and stop) pretty well.

Like M.A.M.E.'s own .inp files ? I like these...
