Renegade was also released on the NES over in North America also and it was pirated in Japan as Double Dragon 4(Famicom) just in case anyone was wondering.

well Renegade is actually a port of an old arcade machine and it spawned three hit games on the home 8-bit computers in the late 80's / early 90's.

The first game is like this sms version (same music infact) but is actually smaller - a series of 5 levels consisting of one battle area (3 flip screens) with a big boss to fight at the end of each round

The second game is Target: Renegade wich is a stardard Double Dragon clone but even better than DD on the spectrum

the third was Renegade 3: The Final Chapter which was more of the same except to travelled through time and fought dinosaurs / robots / knights etc... and was not very good

grab a spectrum emulator and the first two games and enjoy - they rock

Nice to see this argument is still going strong! The Speccy dumps on the C64 from a very great height!

Target Renegade on the Spectrum must rank as one of the best games of all time, much better than the original and miles better than the piss poor third game.
