On 14th February 2001, Heliophobe released a homebrew program called SMS Sound Test. We have a page for it here:

It unfortunately had a few bugs, but Heliophobe never quite got around to releasing a fix before he sadly died many years ago.

While getting multiply-sidetracked from other projects, I took it upon myself to yak-shave a fix, which involved reverse engineering the complete source code and then applying a couple of fixes. You can see that here:

I've just released a version 1.2 merely 23 years after 1.1.
