R-type title music?
Post Posted: Thu Jul 29, 1999 5:23 am
I seem to remember hearing a title music theme at the start of R-type, when I
played it on a real sms. But there is no title music when playing on emulators.
So am I just senile? Or maybe, for some reason, there is a bug that makes
the music not play? I doubt it is a bug, since it happens in both Meka and
Massage.

both of these emulators support fm music and r-type uses this - try disabling it if you cant here sound normally...

There wasn't any music on the title-screen in MS R-type. But odly enough you could listen to it in the secret sound test! It is the same music as in the arcade and amiga version.
To activate the sound test you must die until you get to the continue screen, on the continue screen you should rotate the D-pad clockvise or anti-clockvise (I don't remember wich, one way gives you extra credits and the other activates the sound test)until you get to the sound test. This works in Meka with FM so it isn't a bug!

Strange. I wonder why they didn't make the music play on the title screen. There are a lot of games like that -
Wonderboy 3 comes to mind. I guess they think it doesn't matter.

Well at least I'm not senile :)
