Storage for SG-1000/SG-3000
Post Posted: Sat Dec 02, 2023 10:07 pm
Hi All,

I have three Sega machines. Two SG-3000 and one SG-3000H. I love playing around writing code but I have an issue where I have no external storage options - so when I power down I lose my work.

Has anyone develop a external storage solution such as a writeable cart or similar for our machines?

Thanks

macsonny

Yes, If you are ok with disk basic and floppy images

I also wrote scripts to manipulate the files inside the floppy image from a pc (win,Mac,Linux) so if you prefer to do part of the development on the pc with a modern editor that’s totally doable

Another way is exchanging the programs over serial port, connected to a pc with a usb to serial cable

And don't forget that the SC-3000 can save to cassette too, you can actually plug a mono 3.5 mm cable from the SC-3000 to your computer and save the audio file as if you were saving onto tape.
