The short story version of Ninja Gaiden is probably the american version. I have heard that they change stories cause they think americans don't care reading that much like europeans and asians. Americans don't wanna read about holy scrolls and stuff. Havn't thought about it really since I tested the two versions. First thought it was a joke. Or it could be political reasons like Konamis "Rush'n Attack" (read: Russian Attack) They changed the 8-bit-computer title to "Green Beret" cause of that and changed the story...
