Isometric games?
Post Posted: Fri May 20, 2011 2:40 pm
How many isometric (or rather, 2:1 dimetric projection) games are there on Sega 8-bit consoles? I can only think of two - Arena - Maze of Death for GG and Zaxxon on SG-1000. Enduro Racer is the wrong angle.

It's hard to think of isometric games on the SMS/GG, since the library doesn't seem to have the adventure games like with the Spectrum.

I wonder if Qbert, Populous, FIFA, Marble Madness, Putt and Putter, Paperboy, Paperboy 2, Slam Dunk and Buggy Run are considered isometric, unless they are similar but not exactly isometric like with Enduro Racer.

Otherwise we may have to look into games that has isometric events but not fully in the game (maybe Winter Olpymics unless again with the angle?).

Paperboy, Pacmania, Enduro Racer etc. are in oblique projection

EDIT: I would agree that the following are isometric
Populous
Marble Madness
Putt and Putter
Buggy Run
Desert Strike
FIFA
Q*Bert

I knew there were more than I could think of... I added more tags and also tagged some of the oblique projection games:

Sorry to resurrect an old question but I do find it interesting. I have a related question-how many commercial master system games (or homebrew master system games of commercial quality) are there for the SMS where the viewing angle changes (i.e. not fixed to a certain projection such as oblique) when the player moves? I can't think of any. For example hard driving on the ZX spectrum .
