Here's another pack influenced by what GST Daisuki's been listening to lately. I went into this totally blind, and did not expect some of the songs that came out of this one! I totally recommend listening to the SNES and Mega Drive versions of this soundtrack to get a better idea of just how banger these tunes can be.

Also note that we have the full source for these! See https://www.smspower.org/Development/BarbieSuperModel-GG - in the "mess" you can find the MIDI files and the code that converts them to the sound driver format. You also get 8-character names for the tracks...

Oh, I didn't know about this! Some interesting stuff in here...

I see that in \BARBIE\CODE\FX\ of BSMGGFIN.ZIP there's READ.ME files from Matt Scott of Byte-Size Sound, which I'm guessing is this guy? I'll go through this stuff and update the pack accordingly.

It seems to be his sound driver, it also references Chakan… but to be honest we haven’t gone through the entire “mess”.

The sound driver seems to belong to Paul Hutchinson- he worked on the music and programming for Chakan and X-Men, both of which are referenced in the various bits of music source code. Matt seems to have mostly used other people's sound drivers, so I guess for Game Gear he went knocking at Sega of America for it.

Oh yes, and I had a go at matching the final files (at BSMGGFIN\BARBIE\CODE\FX\BARBFX) to the songs in the VGM pack, listening to the MIDI files in BSMGGFIN\TEST\BARBMID\DRUMS8.ZIP as reference:

01 Title Screen -> ROCINTRO
02 Driving in Hollywood ~ Walking in Vail -> CRUISE1
03 Dressing Rooms ~ Makeup & Hair Salons -> MAKUPNEW
04 Level Complete -> HAPYBKIN
05 Skating in Hawaii -> HOLYSKAT
06 Runway Performance -> PRACTICE
07 Cycling in New York -> SKATIN1
08 Ending -> WINSCREN
09 Unused 1 -> HOLYWOOD
10 Unused 2 -> LOSCREEN
11 Unused 3 -> DRIVINTR
