New cartridge with a 315-5365
Post Posted: Tue Jan 15, 2002 11:41 pm
I have a copy of CASINO GAMES using a 315-5365 mapper, so it should be usable for modifying a cartridge. Eric, you can update the document mentionning the game ?
(Also note that I have another copy of Casino Games which doesn't use a separate mapper.)

Chip dates

The version with both ROM & Mapper chip is marked 8932 (32nd week of 1989), the one with a single chip is marked 9022. So it's possible to assume that Sega switched to single chip games in this period. Taito kept using them, thought.

Interesting enough: since 315-5365 supports 512 Kb ROM, the version will a mapper dump a 512 kb, with the second 256 kb half filled with FF. While the other is really 256 kb.

Unfortunately three different Casino Games and one chip each. PAL versions - I suspect that PAL has no chance for 2-Chip game?

It released at a similar time to the US version, so probably exists. The best chance to find an early "2-chip" version is to look for one with "®" after "SEGA" on the front cover, they seem to have dropped the "®" in 1990.

All three I have with an "R" mark. It seems to me that it is best to ask the seller to weigh the cartridge (e.g. with an electronic scale - if it is possible) - there should be a difference between 1 and 2 -chip.

Chase H.Q. + 315-5365 - 60.1,9 grams.
Afterburner + 315-5235 - 59.67 grams.
Casino Games (single chip) - 51.96 grams.

so probably anything that's at least 56 grams should have a separate mapper chip...
