SC3000 Blank Cartridges (for Development/Prototype ?)
Post Posted: Thu Aug 28, 2008 1:06 pm
Found those (originally from France), very official and probably provided by Sega of Japan as the SC-3000 was distributed in various countries in Europe.

Blank cartridges:
- Total blank boxes, same shape as Mark III boxes (same box as one provided with Great Ice Hockey, likely).
- Cartridges with no label, board with no ROM/EPROM chip. ROM/EPROM chip to be soldered in later.

The board number is Sega 171-5667.

Very cool find
From the back it does appear to me that there was a rom chip on board, but it has been desoldered, as theres 'scorch' marks around the pin holes.

I haven't opened all to see if they are similar, however it's clear from the lack of label and white box that they are meant to be 'empty' cartridges.
Maybe the marks are due to actual usage or testing.

(The pictures are terrible, sorry. The reason is that I'm making most of them during the evening or at night time, and the camera isn't very good either. I'll buy a new one someday)

These look like BASIC carts, there's DRAMs inside them.

The label state they were sent to Sega Enterprise in Haneda.
