Game Gear in Australia?
Post Posted: Fri Oct 15, 2021 3:16 pm
It seems that unlike other Sega systems released by Sega Ozisoft in Australia, the Game Gear is more of a mystery. Normally one would expect when searching on Ebay AU to find a various amount of easily identifiable games but this isn't the case.

Those identifiers being:
- ACB rating label
- Sega Ozisoft barcode label
- Sega Ozisoft Hotline label
- Roadshow Distributor label

On Ebay AU, everything is Japanese, EU or US Majesco releases. Boxed consoles are EU releases or "uknown" or not easily identifiable. Loose consoles are Japanese or EU (-50 with TÜV Rheinland label). SegaRetro shows that "a" Game Gear was released in AU, but what was it?

Ebay hardware examples.

This is a EU release but this listing has a receipt for a Target in AU from 1993. BUT it appears this is a peicemeal situation since it has EU box, Japanese console, EU game (Krusty), US game (Lion King). So this particular one can't be used to identify anything.

Another EU box with EU console, but the box has a barcode label on it. Now the part number on this label is in the format of Sega Ozisoft and it is possible this is actually a legit AU release.

Now onto games. For all of the games I looked on Ebay, as said they are from everywhere but AU, with TWO exceptions. Those being:

This Mortal Kombat II from Italy:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/403120235836
With ACB rating and Sega Ozisoft barcode label

This Mortal Kombat 3 from Australia:
https://ebay.com/itm/174855342843
With ACB rating and Roadshow label

Anyone have any more information regarding Australia releases? It can't be that there is proof that only 1 console and 2 games (both Mortal Kombat) was released there.

Hello, I can see that such sets are very expensive in my country, I will get something like this for 25 euros and maybe even cheaper depends on what store I used to buy something for a friend, I paid 26 euros and now I saw on the regiment for me but I do not remember how much
