When was the Power Base branding abandoned?

This came up in a Discord chat with a friend of mine.
We were curious about when SEGA abandoned the differentiation between the Base System and the Master System branding, and when they transitioned to calling the Master System just the Master System, rather than the vague The SEGA x System branding, and how/when the transition occurred.

I suspect only when Mega Drive came did it become necessary to distinguish which “Sega” you were talking about.
