I purchased a lot on the cheap in early 2000's when games were cheaper, and also received lots of donated games in those days (when Meka was popular). The rest has to do with focus, obsessive-compulsive disorder and private sacrifice. Traveling also helped.

Oh!!! Those were the days. I feel like the old man saying that "back in my day" But you are right, I loved the sense of community and all the trades back then, before Ebay was insane. This place was a great meeting place. Met lots of great friends here :)

My collection is a fraction of yours and it still brings a huge smile to my heart when my friends walk in my game room and see 100's of SMS games and get this glowing look on their face and ask about them. No greater joy than preserving this nostalgia so you can see someone experience for the first time.

Ten years later... I am building my new Sega 8-bit room.

Since I moved from Guildford to Clapham Junction to London (UK) to Paris (France) my collection has been in scattered boxes in 1-2 locations....

New room will be a bit smaller than old one, but also much taller and large spare storage on one side. My collection grew a lot in ten years. So I don't expect everything to be nicely on display. But I will be able to access items again, and easily work on them.

Damn, it must be difficult to move that often with such a giant collection and other gaming related items! Good luck with the new room, Bocky!

Great news. I can’t wait to see it! My collection room is pretty small too, it seems a common thing with European collectors.

I started unpacking a bit but there's lots of work to do on the general room setup.. For now getting some things out to get more visibility. In particular, the lighting conditions are currently very bad... Will take a while to make things nicer and perhaps makes nice photos.

Interestingly, full Game Gear EUR and USA sets can each fit in 1 shelve.

Oh, the room's already good to go... that was quick. It amuses me greatly that what you've unpacked so far on the pictures can be labeled as "a bit"; looking forward to the next progress updates.

I have about 50-60 boxes left to open and unfortunately the practical reality is that things won't all fit in shelves like that, so I'm going to come up with a system of partly using storage boxes, making it easy to move things in and out for display if needed to photograph or focus on something...
Using storage boxes means less things will be on display but I'll be able to keep sunlight in the room.

For now it'll be interesting to go through every time, swap in some replacements, and take more precise notes of the condition of each items, gather and sort documents/books/magazines nicely too.
The ultimate goal is https://www.smspower.org/forums/18075 (scanning + photos) but I'm not there yet.

I see my land already got its place on the corner. What is that European Ayrton Senna's Super Monaco GP II doing among its Korean fellows?

Its Best Friends are Koreans, then It prefers to stay with them instead of its first part or its European mates.

Hope to never see Omar in "this" thing...
This collection deserve something far much than a show where
someone who hears himself talk and thinks he knows everything.
My 2 cents.

I'll probably welcome anyone who wants to come and check the room (including you!). If anything, the larger purpose of this is to be shared/preserved and while there's plenty left to do in term of digitalization, in the meanwhile any form of exposure fulfill a little bit of this goal.

Ah, our 50 shades of Tec Toy... couldn't manage to get even a couple dozen blue releases uniformly blue.

Wow, it's beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
I didn't know that some Brazilian games had been packaged in cardboard boxes, I had only seen the classic plastic boxes so far.

That could be it... should we open up a new purple category back on Sega-Brasil's Tec Toy Wiki? Surely prices won't go mad...

When you have time can you please send a picture of the Y'S game for Master System ? :)

What a stunning collection you have!

Great to see these items making their way to a game room collection that can be admired.

Game Gear bootlegs
Post Posted: Sat Aug 28, 2021 12:52 pm
Been working on sorting and indexing my GG bootlegs.
Not sure if there's an end to it I'm quite happy with this section of the collection.

(Photos don't show the bootlegs of Japanese games, which are not super interesting, and the bootlegs of US games in small boxes, which are somehow cute)

I'm surprised the bootlegs had actual boxes.
