How many games in French (SMS/GG) ?
Post Posted: Tue Apr 06, 2021 2:45 am
Hi folks,

I was wondering if there was a list of games for the SMS & GG that are in French or can choose to play in French ?

Like as an example: Les Schtroumpfs (The Smurfs) which you can choose between English, French, Spanish and German.

Even games translated in French (by an IPS patch) would be also very helpful.

So thanks in advanced to any inquiries! :)

Have a look at https://www.smspower.org/Tags/Multi-Language - I suspect they all have French. We don’t have a great list of translation patches at https://www.smspower.org/Translations/French - maintainers are welcome to volunteer - but other sites like romhacking.net have plenty.

I've purported to contribute, so I started adding some missing spanish translations (And Catalan Phantasy Star will follow). First of all, Golden Axe Warrior.

It's indeed the case with all those listed games except for Magical Puzzle Popils which is multi-lingual in Japanese-English only and the Master System version of FIFA International Soccer, which has some language differences with the Game Gear version it was converted from. TecToy stripped German and French, kept English and Spanish, and also added Portuguese. I suspect Portuguese is actually a retranslation based on either French or German (probably French) while the other language was either removed or left unused. Not sure if any of those language strings still survive within the ROM.

I'm playing the full game (it'll take ages at this pace :_) ) and slowly correcting some typos, but apart from that, it's pretty finished.

Many thanks to all of you! :)

I can eliminate Japanese Mark III and all U.S. released titles as these
are Japanese/English oriented languages...oh and also Tec Toy rleased titles (Spanish/Portuguese), so that leaves European titles to check.

And i'll check out Revo's link (traf.romhack).

So again, thanks to all! :)
