Google committed fair use

Good news for the long-term future of Emulicious:
The Supreme Court of the United States ruled that Google committed fair use, not copyright infringement, when copying parts of the Java SE API to make the Android API.

See the opinion of the Court and discussion on Hacker News.

While the fact that API's are still considered copyrightable is, by itself, still worrying for the future of interoperability, the fact that copying it can be considered fair use under certain circumstances does give some hope, even if it is not a perfect outcome.

I may be out of the loop but how does this affect Emulicous specifically?

It's written in Java but unless Oracle were intending to start charging developers for use of their API the outcome would have been the same.
