MS2GG - a free open source SMS converter for the Game Gear
Post Posted: Tue Jul 14, 2020 3:06 pm
Looking at the commercially made converters recently, I noticed the asking price seems to be on the rise. With 3D printing and cheap PCB manufacturing so accessible, I figured I'd have a go at making my own. So here's the result, the MS2GG converter.

Using the free online resources at https://github.com/ms2gg/doc/wiki anyone can order a PCB, print a case and, with a few off-the-shelf components, build their own converter.

I don't have a huge SMS collection but the games I've tried all work. I'm keen to hear about compatibility, especially with unlicensed titles (e.g. Codemasters) so I'm making the remaining prototype PCBs available. Let me know if you're interested or have any other feedback.

I’ve added the link to your post; post a few more times to disable the link filter.

Thats prety neat! I was actually thinking of trying to design something like this myself but might not need to now.

I'm interested, do you still have one available? I'm really glad to see this project too!

Yes, I still have a few PCBs left. I'm only asking the price of postage which is usually about €3 to most destinations. I now also have a few thumb screws for a little extra. Drop me a PM and I'll set you up!
