Is the heat shield needed on SMS MK1
Post Posted: Tue Jul 07, 2020 10:18 pm
I have opened my SMS MK1 and it has no heat shield I will one day do the 50/60 Hz, composite video and audio and eventually the FM mod. Will it be safe for the SMS motherboard/components without the heat shield for long gaming sessions?

The metal case is for RF shielding. The only heat related part is the voltage regulator which is a big thing with three legs, that should be attached to something to help avoid overheating. If it’s not hot, then no problem.
