Update for 4 Casio games: Koneko no Daibouken, Sinbad, The Stone of Wisdom, Yokai Yasiki.

Glitch on text fixed. Only Sinbad is working on real hardware, the others requires DahJee RAM extension adapter.

BTW, you can make games with DahJee screen working on Emulicious by changing the extension to .sg

Hello to all. My name is Taylor, I am a newbie here, and I see some people are newbies too. I just wanted to give a gift of MSX2SMS ports and loaders here. Just to let you know, I have all your hacks and I did them again in a folder named "Korean MSX Loader" which basically comes from C-SO (Korea). Some games don't work. I'm starting with the Aaronix Loader 1.

I know it's not MSX2SMS, but MSX2GG? Here's the Clover Loader for Game Gear.
Clover (Game Gear).zip (1.19 MB)
This comes from the Sky Jaguar SG2GG hack. Press 1 to pause to see colors. Default is SG-1000, Up is SMS palette, and Down for ColecoVision palette. If you want to play fullscreen, play on SMS format. Also, this works for only 16kB MSX files.

Just like BKK, I did a C-SO and Zanac conversion, even with the copyright edited.

These are DahJee ports of Hudson Soft's games.
They Include: Bomber Man, Cannon Ball, Color Ball, and Jyankyo.
Make sure when you play Bomber Man, Cannon Ball, and Color Ball of SG-1000 II format. Jyankyo uses both SG-1000 II and SMS format.

So when you say DahJee screen is working on Emulicious, what kind of DahJee ROM loader did you get this from? I got the data from The Legend of Kage (Kage no Densetsu).

Lastly, Number 6. I really apologize if this is not what you want. You can use these for cartridges that you can make, I want to see a MSX2SMS cartridge myself. Have a good night. :-)

Some games are not going to work, since they access the hardware directly. And the MSX joysticks are read through the PSG ports A0h and A1h.

Other games write directly to the VDP on ports 98h and 99h, while SG-1000 uses BEh and BFh.

On those cases, there is no BIOS that can fix things, the game has to be patched manually. Others will work fine if the needed calls are 'emulated'. Most Konami games work with the BIOS, so those games are a good testing ground :)

Glad I got a message. I see what you're saying in this conversation, but it would've been more better if the MSX BIOS or C-BIOS was inside a MSX loader, and maybe someone can develop a MSX emulator for the Master System (it has the fixed white noise, and can emulate up to 128kB or more, also pause would do just like the loader from C-SO (Korea)).

And also, they could put MSX2 on the Master System (using the Master System's palette to replace the colors and divide it by 4). If it is not possible, then we could just stick with MSX.

Hi, I am the graphic artist of the game Menace, ported from MSX to Master System.

I want to thank to the guys that ported, so, I can get my first Master System game.

But I got to say, I got an update of the game for MSX that has PAUSE key.

Hello everyone,

My name is Toni Galvez, I am a pixel artist (but I can do 3D animations too) and after 26 years developing games for several systems, I would like to get into the Sega Master System games development. I would like to offer my skills to anybody who needs a pixel artist for background tiles and sprites.

I am going to post some of my graphics here.

So, if you are a coder and you are looking to do a small or big game, please, feel free to ask me for the graphics.

Hello Toni Galvez, it is nice to see a sprite creator for Menace, an TNI game for MSX. As a gift, I will give you the game in some MSX loaders, but right now, I'm at my aunt's house. Also I'm from the US, nice to see a person from the UK. :-)

Here's your pack of Menace on four loaders! There is an Aaronix Loader from The Castle, which is Aaronix 2, an Aaronix Loader from Magical Kid Wiz, which is Aaronix 3, an Hi-Com Loader from Galaxian, which is Hi-Com 1, and lastly, Joy Soft, which comes from C-SO that works perfectly well just like Aaronix Loader 2 and 3, but better music and white sound. Enjoy! :-)

Edit: Also, if you have the update with pause, please give it to me in the Choose File section. Let me know if any of you guys made this work on real hardware.

Menace, it's a great game for the MSX :)
The way the game blends colors on alternate frames to get new colors is a nice touch!

Thanks for the message dink. I'm glad that people are liking the game, Menace, although it kinda is hard for me because when you touch a meteor or a laser bullet, you lose a life and restart at the level.

Hey Wanted to chime in that I love these hacks and I appreciate the work that you do on them.

I made a (bad) attempt to convert Fairyland Story, so I guess I'd like to request that one, as well as:

Congo Bongo
Time Pilot
Vampire Killer (too complex?)

I checked to make sure you'd done and them and it appeared you hadn't yet. Thanks again (esp love Bosconian, such an underrated arcade game)

Had some difficulty getting these to work on a real system though, as I have before for some of the historic Korean hack releases (Ie King and Balloon).

If you used Fairyland Story on a loader, the thing will not work because only the loaders will use 8kB, 16kB, and 32kB. I can also do King & Balloon too, just did some Namco games. I'm going to try some of these games you requested. Congo Bongo is not on ROM format, also, it is nice to meet you.

Also, Time Pilot does not work because it glitches a little bit of tiles, and the keyboard doesn't work on the Master System. I can't do Vampire Killer, because it only supports MSX1 and that's a MSX2 game.

I updated the tools, changed "Korean MSX Loader" to "Joy Soft MSX Loader", and there is two MSX loaders from Hi-Com. Sourced from Pooyan (Korea). In the normal one, remove A at the beginning of the MSX file, if you want to keep it plain, there is one without hex d0.

No, I attempted to use Bosconian on a real (USA) system (through an everdrive). I didnt try my Fairyland Story on the real system, scared id mess something up. Probably you'll have to do it, I realized I don't know what the heck im doing

Some of the Korean hacks were always finicky though.

Hello Stokes, you are accepting requests of MSX2SMS games you are such a kind nice guy thanks, then how about:

- Super Suwanggi a version of Altered Beast.
- Knightmare, was ported to SG-1000 and there was a port resulting in a dark colored look on this thread, can it be brighter?

Ok I went through all MSX games (took a long time), and here is my final list of 'wants' (and thanks again for offering)

1. Fairyland Story
2. Buck Rogers
3. Star Trek

Congo Bongo I am not sure about as it seems to be different from the SG-1000 release? some of the others seem exactly the same as the SG-1000 versions (ie Zaxxon).

King and Balloon already had a conversion done by the Korean pirates, but it would be nice to see a non pirated one.

Searching my mind here...I think maybe the only other would be Penguin Adventure - this game has never worked on my SMS, and I wonder if the true MSX version would boot easier? I get a black screen/hang on this one and always have.

Hello there, I am a kind Z80 professional myself. Although I can do MSX2SMS, I can also do ColecoVision to MSX and SG-1000 to MSX (Tiny Yarou's SG2MSX Loader for MSX being loaded from a disk, also sourced from Sky Fighter Disk Version). :-)

I'm sorry to say, but I can't do Congo Bongo and Buck Rogers because I don't know where the ROM file is inside the disk or casette. I might do a byte conversion of Fairyland Story.

I'm sorry to say, but I can't do Congo Bongo and Buck Rogers because I don't know where the ROM file is inside the disk or casette. I might do a byte conversion of Fairyland Story.

Ah, thanks for looking at them though. Would still be interested in Fairyland Story, one of my favorite MSX ports!

Hey Stokes, are my requests possible? Super Suwanggi maybe not, since the ROM size is 64Kb and there are versions for 2 mappers I found ASCII 16k and SCC.

I'm not requesting these, because I can play on msx - but I have some recommendations of some cute and fun games that may be of interest for future ports:

Butamaru Pants (16k cart rom)
Fire Rescue (16k cart)
Cow Abductors (16k cart rom)
Crazy Buggy ("")
Dragon Attack (like centipede, 8k cart)
Ti Ti! Pang Pang! (32k cart rom)

p.s. I'm not sure if any of these had been ported before, so please check :)

best regards,
- dink

Basically, Butamaru Pants, Fire Rescue, Cow Abductors, and Dragon Attack works on the SMS. I will soon get this to be packed. :-)
Also, I will see if Crazy Buggy and Ti Ti! Pang Pang! will work.
