Basic SC3000 questions
Post Posted: Sun Feb 16, 2020 9:52 pm
Hi guys,

I just received my sc3000H (from Egypt!).

A few very basic questions:

1) I read it has a 32kb ROM... is it a bios? Can it be launched without any cartridge inserted?

2) to play .wav from tapes... do I need a basic cartridge?

3) opening it up I see that it has no rf switch to change the rf channel (in the pcb I can see the 3 pin-holes and read the switch label but no switch soldered).

Thank You to anyone able to answer my really rookie questions :)

1. That’s creative marketing - it refers to the BASIC cartridge. It won’t do anything without it.

2. Indeed you do need BASIC to load from tape.

3. Analogue TV was weird, you may not be able to get anything from this on your TV. You may need to go for an RGB mod to get compatibility.

Thank You for your answer !

3 - analog TV ha working fine but i cannot switch the rf Channel. In the service manual i cannot see such an hardware revision.

Which basic Version is the best to use?

Is there any eeprom-based rewritable cartridge just for a single rom (i think 32kb will be enough) ?

The basic carts also have memory in them as the system only has 2kb of memory. Depending on the version and level of basic, will depend on how much memory it has in it.

I just found Basic Level III B cartridge for 20€... quite expensive...

Can someone explain me the steps to load a .wav file using it?

Is there any exaustive repository for tape .wavs?

Thank You!!
