Could you use a Raspberry Pi to accelerate the Sega SG-1000 graphics chip?

Yes and No but definitely no if you dont plan on writing software to utilize that boost in power. You cant adapt onto a graphics accelerator directly, you can either replace it or patch its video in with a new video chips output (Like what the Sega 32x does on the MegaDrive). Even then, if using an RPi, youd need quite a bit of IO and be able to process information in a fast enough manor in order to accomplish anything. |

You could replace the tms9918a with an f18a, but you would need to write new software to use it's features.
