Uses USB? Runs on Linux / Windows?
I'm very interested.

Yes, app is cross platform (Wx lib / c++) and usb2.
But need some minor adjustments (graphically) on other systems than Mac. I should finish the app in few weeks (SMS sram write part, MD flash/sram write )

Very (very) cheap dumper/writer (based on STM32 bluepill ... 2€ lol).
Much faster than a GQ4x programmer (actually not very far from my Xeltek 610P programmer, which is not a low cost one)

Krikzz had responded to Psidum last Tuesday regarding this issue, and it is the game mapper code in the everdrive not decoding over 1MB. He has offered to replace carts if people need this.

Anyone asking replacement already? I'd like to see how it goes...

so yesterday I found out that Krikzz did release (3 months ago!) an updated Master EverDrive OS that should support 256(*) ROM banks, if used on a Master EverDrive whose FPGA firmware has been updated ('core v02').

(*) well, almost

Krikzz Master EverDrive changelog wrote
SMSOS-v1.03 04.09.2019
1)Supports 4MB ROMs (256Banks). Last 8 banks occupied by OS, so effective size is 248 banks. Feature works only in pair with FPGA core v02

so I was wondering if anyone has a chance to test that...

Are we able to update the FPGA core ourselves without additional hardware needed? Then I could give it a try.

I'm pretty sure you need some programmer - and the FPGA core 'firmware' file, which isn't distributed. So I'd say if you *need* this, you might ask for a replacement, as Krikzz said.

Terrible! Was that *before* they released the update?

Not sure, but it was after you (I think) commented somewhere here that krikzz is willing to take back all the Master Everdrive X7 to update/"repair" them. Maybe the support did not know about that at this time.
I will try again early next year.

so here's Krikzz message in his forum:

I check game mapper code and i found that it really does not decode address over 1M in game mode. It not affect commercial games, but large hombrew and demos will not work. I understand that it could be important for some people and i ready to replace such carts. Just put your requests here: https://krikzz.com/store/contact-us

you might try selecting 'warranty service' from the list and then write about the "256 ROM banks" support you need in the message field. They'll probably just re-program the FPGA and send your EverDrive back to you.

I've been reminded to post test results from about a month or two ago for revised Master Everdrive X7 cartridges showing only 248 out of 256 banks usable!
