Trace and disassemble SMS games

I would like to trace over commercial SMS games like Fantasy Zone, and see the Z80 code in action. Step over, put breakpoints in, see the registers and memory etc.
Is there a guide to get me up and running with a dev kit that can do this?

Well doing this on real hardware requires a ton of work but you can also just download the rom and emulicious and run the de-compiler built into emu.

Emulicious is the best for doing all these - especially its disassembler, although I tend to use Meka as I find it easier to use its pseudo-console debugger.

Same for me. Meka for nearly everything.
Emulicious for very precise things (vdp constraints, cycles)

I still use MEKA for a lot of things, but I switched totally to Emulicious for my debug/disassemble needs. Still I think I'm using no more than 50% of its features ;)
