SMS/Mark III/SG-1000 questions

I don't want to spam the forums with questions, so, I'm gonna ask all of my further questions in this thread.
Here are my questions. What would happen if you put a Mark III game in an SG-1000? (Answered) Is it safe to use an SMS power supply with an SG-1000? Is there a translated SG-1000 Mark 1 manual? Are there any scans of SG-1000 cart labels? Is the Telecon Pack legal to use in the US? |

Some Japanese Master System/Mark III games detect they are in an SG-1000 and display a message or some other secret. Hang On plays an extended version of its main theme, for example. The game doesn't work, of course.

Are there any videos showing this?

I worked on some games that fall-back to simplified graphics when plugged into an SG-1000, but otherwise still work; I don't know if any of the original games do the same.

If you rename a bunch of SMS ROMs to .sg and then try them in suitable emulators you may find some examples. Some other emulators may allow you to specify the machine without renaming, some may force the machine based on the ROM checksum.
We do have a tag for this: http://www.smspower.org/Tags/SGHandler but only two entries currently. |

As far as I know they are the only two games with such handler, so the tagging is "complete".
