Any help fixing a glitchy PAL SMS 2?

Hello. I just got this PAL Alex Kidd Master System II from a flea market. When turning it on, I got what you see in the attached file. I think it may be a faulty BIOS and thought about replacing it, but came to a bump. Any ideas?

It looks like bad connections to the VDP. Can you test that?

How should I do that? | |

You would need a continuity tester and then various soldering tools to fix it.

That I got. But this is my first time with a SMS2 and I'm not sure about how to proceed.

IC5 (315-5246) is the VDP.
IC6 and IC7 are VRAM (D4168C-15). IC9 (Sony CXA1145) is the video encoder. A schematic can be found in the service manual which is located here: http://www.smspower.org/Development/SegaMasterSystemIIServiceManual Good luck! |

With my (very extremely) limited electronics knowledge, I've been testing but I don't seem to find anything amiss.

What have you tested and found so far (and how have you done it)?
