What about a much requested game today? What about Shining Force Gaiden for the Game Gear? It's technically very similar to Sword of Hajya but this one is the first and was only released in Japan. Therefore 90% of us won't be even able to play it correctly. Let's see if this release can convince some more people to work on Sega 8-bit hacking and translation projects (sharing their work on the S8-Dev).. In order to make the game run properly under Meka you *must* insert the following line inside of the Meka.nam file: C76F1AE91B588DC7,Shining Force 1,VER=Japanese,IPERIOD=238 The reason for that is that as other Shining Force games, it uses a weird Z80 interrupt behavior which rely on perfect timing. Basically setting the 238 IPeriod value is a number that luckily make the game work with the CPU core used in Meka. Depending on the emulator you are using, it may or not work. Try messing with the IPeriod value if the emulator as such an option. On a side note, a new version of the Calypso emulator was just released. It now features a graphical user interface and some quite interesting changes. Give it a try! |
