SG-1000 cartridges actually work/fit in a Japanese Master System
![]() |
So a week back I ordered an unknown SG-1000 cartridge.
The cart has a ripped label so the seller did not know what the game is. https://www.ebay.nl/itm/235468592850 I've been pondering off and on getting a SG-1000 console, so I thought, let's start with a game, knowing I could not play it, since I do not own a SG-1000 yet. So after receiving it, I though: "hey, this looks like a mark III cart!" So I decided to just plug it in, thinking it would be a Mar III game. Of course after cleaning it with a q-tip and 99,9% alcohol. Did not work. tried it again, got a black screen, so I thought: progress! Cleaned it again. And Low and behold, it worked I knew that the Master System technically could play SG-1000 games, because I tried that already with flash carts. But somehow I missed that the cart shape is the exact same shape/mold So I just wanted to mention that another reason to buy a Japanese Master System is that it just plays actual physical SG-1000 carts! |

Yes, unfortunatly so but inevitable seeing the hardware differences/limitations.
I was just so shocked that it was really fully compatible cart size wise. And the game I bought was Congo Bongo. And I am happy with that. Could have been much much worse Pretty fun and neat platformish overhead action game, butchered arcade port |
