Sega Game Gear and Everdrive Issue

So I'm experiencing something very strange when I use my Krizz Everdrive Version 1.3 with my Game Gear. The same thing has happened 3 times, so thought I would try find the root of the problem.
The Everdrive runs fine for a while, but will unexpectedly crash and then doesn't work at all. I try other cartridges, but nothing but a blank screen. Opening up the GG, unplugging connectors, moving wires about, pretending to know what I'm doing and still nothing.
Eventually after a day or two everything works again. I have a modded Game Gear and it has a new cartridge slot , new ips screen, rechargeable batteries etc.
Can the Everdrive stop the GG from working, is something getting too hot which is causing this issue for instance?
It's happened 3 times with different games on the Everdrive, so I assume that's the problem. Prior to that I played a regular cart with no problems at all.
Any help would be appreciated!

if the game you're playing crashes then it likely means that it can no longer access the code (in ROM) so it seems like the EverDrive has 'shut down'.
But it doesn't work again after a few minutes (make it one hour, for a test) of being disconnected and left untouched?

I think the part where the Game Gear can’t play normal cartridges is a bit odd. It implies the Everdrive has somehow temporarily damaged the system. It does draw more power than a normal cartridge, maybe the power supply is getting overheated/out of spec and shuts down for a while.

OK, I totally misread this.
If it's the GG that stops working for a while, and then works again, there's indeed has something very wrong going on. Does it get really hot?

I now have the issue that if I simply leave the game gear off a game will load but then will crash. The longer I leave it the longer the game lasts. But seems to last only for a few minutes at the most. This is not just for the Everdrive but for regular cartridges too. There seems to be an issue with the game gear which may or may not be a result of using the Everdrive!
Apparently the Everdrive can damage the ASIC. If you turn it off and on again all I get is different coloured screens and white noise. If the everdrive has damaged the GG buying an official product and not a knock off has massively backfired. I will just use regular cartridges if I can get the thing fixed!

Check your SD card. I had one go bad in a PC Engine Everdrive and it was maddening.
Next up is power. The Everdrive is likely pulling more power than a standard cartridge. So I'd say check your capacitors in the Game Gear as well as the power supply you're using.

The SD card is absolutely fine.
The Game Gear is fitted with a CleanJuice USB battery pack.
I have taken the GG apart to test the screen, but all I get is a black screen with white border lines when I insert a game. I think everything is connected apart from the speakers.
Like you say it could be a capacitor issue...
