Italian manual only by GIG (giochi preciozi)
Post Posted: Fri Jun 07, 2024 2:08 pm
Couple of years ago, I found on ebay a copy of Strider for the sega genesis with an additional italian only manual by GIG

Started to look for more and while finding a couple genesis games, I found also a copy of Dick Tracy for the master system but never saw any other games (which is odd considering I found several for the genesis)

Today a fellow collector on a facebook group posted pictures of a couple more games

Paperboy's booklet is weird though, looks more like the random instruction sheet french distributors would add to US imports.

Neat! I haven't seen those before. Presumably excess US stock as Paperboy uses the US product code, Golden Axe also has a US manual, and Dick Tracy has a US box. Aerial Assaut also had a US release, but can't see which version from that picture.

It's probably all US versions as all the megadrive variants I found this way were genesis imports with the additional italian manual.

OT but all I know of GiG is one streamer has one of many meme alerts being Pacciocchini. A toy apparently illegally both manufactured and marketed in Canada as Little Babies, yet lived on in Italy decades later? Now that commercial is ingrained in my brain thanks to streamer. :P

But I'd guess they are a large toy company there big enough to make many things.

Very interesting!
GIG was a top toy company in Italy, it was the official Ni****do product distributor and then Sega distributor with the alliance of Giochi Preziosi.
I went into the super gigantic factory in the begginning of 2000 years, because Gig was a client of mine and I went to do maintenance for some of their system. I saw a lot of toys and I remember a big open space invaded from toys.
