Anmitsu Hime Translation
Post Posted: Sun Mar 05, 2023 12:41 am
I've think related to games that didn't have translated yet, Anmitsu Hime for me deserves an translation because is ones that is anime based and I lke to see translated.
And apparently High Tech World have some lines that look a like with Anmistu Hime, like the "1st" possible Game Over and the 2nd Question from test.
Thanks all text in this game is in Hiragana, even some ones that is common in katakana (like Space Harrier is write in Anmitsu Hime like this "すぺーすはりあー" not "スペースハリアー").

I didn't know how modify the rom or better translation for all texts, but I've transcript all texts from this game I wish someone help to translate this game.

This looks tough

If there are no kanji and only hiragana, translation will be difficult.

I am Japanese.
I only understand Japanese, but if there is a word you do not understand, I may be able to explain it to you so that you can understand.
I use DeepL or ChatGPT.

Hello, I would be happy to help on the ROM hacking side of things.

I had actually made a start on doing this myself several months back. I don't know Japanese (I used Google to translate), so it wouldn't have been the best result, but I can provide my notes if that would help.

From what I've seen, the High Tech World localization is indeed fairly accurate (line by line), save for the things that were obviously changed to better suit players outside of Japan.

I've slowly been working through a ROM disassembly and located the bulk of the text data a few days ago. Even from what little I've decoded so far, I've already found dialogue I never knew was there, so I'm interested to see how much more there is that isn't widely known about.

Game over 1
Post Posted: Mon Mar 20, 2023 11:37 am
As for game over 1. This is how it translates without worrying about the number of characters.

Mom: "Anmitsu! Come here!"
Mom: "What have you been wandering around and doing since earlier? Go back to your room and study. I won't allow you to leave your room today."

I think Hikaruon86's translation is mostly fine.

About that traffic light question...
Traffic lights are normally vertical in the US (red on the top). I feel like I might have -once- seen a horizontal traffic light.
From what I heard (my teacher back in college), traffic lights are still green in Japan even if they are traditionally called "blue".

Yes, it is. In Japan, the green color of traffic lights is called blue.

Question 6 I didn't think if I used the correct term, is better "approximately " or "around"?

I have translated about a quarter of the text so far.
I have not been able to find time for it and the pace is very slow.

I've been fighting with the text dialogue routines for a while now, there's still more to iron out, but it's getting there.

Didn't know if anyone else was still working on this (besides @hogel apparently), but I've also finished my attempt at a translation of the game script.

Getting set up for n > 1 languages requires some work, especially if you don’t yet have a clean ROM + assets -> translated ROM workflow, but once it is you can add languages fairly easily :)
