Automatic conversion of tape games to floppy for instantaneous loading
Post Posted: Mon Feb 20, 2023 12:59 am
I just released a tool to convert save states to floppy.
Here it is.

In the past I released tools to extract basic from audio files and to create floppies using sega's file system. However, many tapes have protections / binary code, so porting from tape to floppy requires some manual work.

One simple way around this is to load the tape in an emulator, save the state when the loading is finished and convert such savestate into a floppy that boots and sets the machine state to such a state.

Currently the code only converts from hand made mame save states (see the repository's save.lua), but extensions to other emulators should be pretty simple.

Brief instructions are given in the repository, let me know if you need need any help.
