There seem to be easy ways to allow dragging on files to upload through a regular form field like the one this forum uses. Any idea whether this would be as simple as pasting in that JavaScript?

We are always behind the times :) we have drag to upload on wiki pages, you may try checking your browser behaviour on drag and dropping files onto the upload control on the forums.
