Ah, I see I am not the only one in the business of summoning forbidden things on their Sega console this year, nice!

Honestly this looks great from the Youtube video! I will try the hack for myself later

LOL this year is the year of the games which never got the master system port... which is not a bad thing at all. In fact, it shows the hardware, mainly in the graphic & processor parts, was superior to its rivals.

It is incredible what it can be done with calindro's tool, and the sense of humour put with this mod is releveant. well done!

PD. Do you wrote all the music again? or you used a toolchain or a tool of some kind?

Very funny hack. I like how creatively you used the resources available to recreate the original levels, like the flame enemies in stage 1-4. The music is very well done, too.

The only thing that bugs me is the clash of graphical styles. Alex' sprite has outlines, but the enemies have not. Maybe try to recreate Alex in the style of M**** in SMB1? Alternatively, put this Alex into the world of SMB3 next time.

Oh wow! I truly wish someone would pick up the work done here and carry on with a true SMB 1 port for the SMS. Would be so cool to play it on the system.

I have been wondering, how come there _isn't_ a clone out there? It seems like such an obvious thing to do.

When I was a kid, my mate Joe had a Master System and my mate Pete had a NES. I don't think I had a favourite back then...

There is the Super Boy clone of Mario on the MSX, which could be played on SMS, but that's just horrible. lol

I even think source code of some type for SMB 1 is available online which may make it a bit easier to port...or maybe not. The SMS should be able to do an excellent port of all the NES Mario games though, it's a more than capable system.

Hopefully someone will port SMB 1 to SMS someday

Indeed. I would love to have that pumping out of my FM modded SMS.

I'm genuinely surprised by how well the music translates to the PSG, dare I say I prefer it to the NES version.

This is such a comical hack that it's almost blasphemy, love it!

I just finished the hack, that was fun!

I really liked how you included various versions of Super Mario Bros in the mix, including the music! Really cool retro trip :D

If I can really say something, I would say there was one of the later underground levels where I ended up softlocked because I jumped on the top part of it just before the finish line that was set below.
Maybe put an empty space at the end of it so you can drop down to the finish line ?

It looks fantastic, and honestly more fun to play than Alex Kidd.
The colors of the SMS looks so much nicer than the gritty NES colors.

Love the music too.The low bass of the underworld track is "noteworthy" :).

The final level was a very nice and an incredibly beautiful surprise.

I mentioned earlier in the thread that someone had disassembled the original SMB 1 code.

It's available on github if anyone is interested in pursuing an SMB 1 port.

https://gist.github.com/1wErt3r/4048722

Someone else took that disassembly and converted it to readable c / c++

https://github.com/MitchellSternke/SuperMarioBros-C

Don't know if any of that would aid an SMS port but thought I would share all the same.
