French Master System - Compatible RGB Cable?
Post Posted: Wed Jan 12, 2022 9:03 pm
Hello,

I bid and unexpectedly won an auction for a French Master System.
The problem is, the auction was in french and I didn't understand that the console didn't include an A/V cable.

From what I read, these systems use a special RGB "RVB adapter" cable with active circuitry.

Does anyone know what would be a compatible cable for this console?

I have already ordered the following for my Mega Drive 1 (1600-13).
Would this work?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/254289904128

I would hate to go back on the auction but I haven't been able to find a listing for just the RVB adapter.

Thanks

Thank you for your help.

Unfortunately there was a miscommunication with the seller and even though I did find an adapter from a different French seller, the original one cancelled the auction and gave it to the next person.

Well, now to find a new (old) one I guess...

This older thread may be useful to understand the differences between SMS 1 RGB cables and French SMS 2 which needs more active components in the cable: https://www.smspower.org/forums/16871-OfficialRGBCable

Also it links to some additional resources you might find useful in case you decide to built your own. Essentially it contains a video amplifier for each color channel and some other impedence matching

Is yours SMS 1 or SMS 2? They are different situations I believe

However the seller cancelled the sale due to a misunderstanding caused by a language barrier.

The good news is that I have ordered a PAL-G Master System 1 instead.
The bad news is that it must have been from what I surmise to be an inexperienced seller, making me more than a little weary. We'll see I guess.
