(Barely) Different Dooly?
Post Posted: Fri Aug 20, 2021 2:02 am
I recently got a few more Korean games, and one of them is Little Dinosaur Dooly, and while it plays (and dumps) just fine, it seems to not quite match the dumps I see reported here and elsewhere on the internet. Is this due to dumping it incorrectly, or perhaps a different build of the game? Has anyone else seen these checksums?

The only actual ROM image difference from the previous Agigongnyong Dooly (KR) SMSPower! release is the byte at address 0x33 in my copy is 0xFF instead of 0x00.

File fingerprints in case this turns out not to be just a one-time ROM burning error or dumper error (I did dump several times and always saw the same values though):

I dumped 4f1be9fa once in 2010 from my cartridge and again in 2011 from another cartridge in Hokkaido.

Would be good to investigate what this byte is for.

I don't know enough about EPROM technology but it is possible the game may be stored on EPROM and suffering from damage (so called "bitrot" which personally I have never experienced but people have seen).

I have a few other cases like that in Taiwanese and Korean sets.
