LCD screen issues with re-capped Game Gear
Post Posted: Fri Jun 25, 2021 4:52 pm
Hello,

I am fairly new to the world of Game Gear repairs and could use a little help with trying to diagnose an issue I am having. I recapped the unit I have with one of the many cap kits available and now the unit powers up and a game demo is being played on the screen, which is great. The issue I am having is that the screen itself is very dull when looking at it straight on but on an angle, looks decent. The unit I have is a twin ASIC VA1 (837-7719-01).

Is there anyone that could give me some pointers on where to start when trying to diagnose this brightness/view angle issue? I'm not really sure what kind of voltages to expect a certain caps/transistors to tell if they are in an acceptable range for the issue at hand.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here are some pictures I took of the screen if it helps.
