Help get my phantasy star cart working!
Post Posted: Mon Sep 28, 2020 12:10 am
Recently got a bunch of sms games and upon taking ps apart to clean, I see that it is literally falling apart. Two caps and a diode all fell off as I brushed the board with alcohol. So, what I’m looking for is some insight as to what I can use to replace these caps that look like resistors and the two diodes on the pcb. Did a continuity test quickly and seems good so I’m hoping someone here has some knowledge I can use so I can get the components needed to get this game running! Thanks in advance!

I know this post is like 6 months old but I had a similar problem with a cart I bought so I did my own research and I hope what I found can help you out too.

The little axial capacitors that look like resistors are all non-polarized 22nf (or 0.022uf) capacitors. It seems like ceramic caps that are anything between 0.01uf and 0.1uf will work just fine as a replacement.

For the diodes, just about any schottky diode should work, I'd recommend BAT85 or 1N914 diodes.
