Phantasy Star 1 save issue?

Hello, I am using the PicoDrive v1.9.2 on my modded psp. I have downloaded numerous roms of the first Phantasy Star game. But everytime I go to save in the game the save screen is glitched. I can still pick a number tho, so I do. Then I close the emulator, reopen it, hit continue, and then pick that same number, the game then decides to glitch out for a few seconds and then it kicks me back to the start screen. I mean sure I guess I could just use save states since those do seem to work, but I'm just surprised to find no one else having this issue? Any help would be appreciated.

Hey I don’t have a solution but just wanted to post that I have the exact same issue on 3ds using picodrive!
