Help adding Cheat codes to Meka
Post Posted: Sun Mar 11, 2018 2:28 am
I have been trying to add Action replay codes to the ram editor in Meka with no luck.

Using Ninja Gaiden as an example
00DFC704 infinite lives

I search for address DFC7 in the memory editor under ram
once found I change the 2 digit number to 09
presumably giving me 9 lives but nothing happens
I have also reset the emulator after making the change but still the same issue

Im sure this is an user error, can someone please help me.

No, that should work, but you might need to lose a life to see the effect.

I think I found out how to do it, but is there a way of locking that value in?
When I enter an infinite life code it boosts my health right up but starts going down again so I have to keep re-entering it, is there a way of locking it in?

No, Meka can't do that.

A possible option is to make simple trainer patches to the games in question. I had much fun doing it some time ago, and you can use MEKA's built-in cheat finder. Documentation, tips and tricks in this forum thread: http://www.smspower.org/forums/14235-CheatfinderHowToUseIt

Often it is enough to change a few bytes in the ROM.

I'd say it's a pretty steep learning curve though.

I'd forgotten that - Meka.pat RAM patches are just like PAR codes, except hard to turn off.
