GameGear TV Project Info Request
Post Posted: Tue Jan 08, 2002 12:50 am
I'm an electrical engineering and computer science grad student and am interested in creating my own TV cartridges for my Game Gear systems. Anyone know of any other attempts to do this or have any info that would help me? Has anyone gutted the real Sega TV cartridge to see how it works? I need good schematics and specs for the system itself as well as design recommendations. I will of course share my entire project with anyone that wants it.

Hi Mack,

There was some discussion of this topic a while back on the forum, and the people who were most involved with experimenting (Vic Viper and someone else.. I forgot) posted their results at
http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/vkemp/sega/ggtv.htm

Good luck!

Thanks for the link, but I have already been to that site. The subject is taking video out of the gamegear not putting video into it.

> I recently found two Game Gear systems while helping clean out my brother-in-laws old apartment. Got both of them working after a little soldering and immediately began tinkering to figure out how I could reuse the LCD panels. www.sega-parts.com has the tv tuners for $45 bucks each, but I'm interested in inputting a composite video signal. Any headway with your project? Have you opened up a tuner to see what they were doing? I'll probably have to buy one myself.

Hi Folks,

That other guy was me:-)

It's funny...I haven't been to t he forum in a long time, I show up, and there's posts about this project, heh heh. I still get emails from ppl all over asking me how to connect a GG to a tv, or to reuse the screen for other projects.

Talk soon!
