MEKA and custom BIOSes
Post Posted: Tue Mar 17, 2015 12:20 pm
In the MEKA directory named "data" there are a few 8KB .rom files which upon closer inspection appear to be the console's BIOSes. In fact I'm convinced of this because I can replace those files with other 8KB BIOSes such as the M404 Prototype BIOS MEKA will load the new BIOS.

However, when I try to get MEKA to load the SMS Bootloader BIOS it does not work. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the SMS Bootloader is 32KB while all other files were 8KB.

My motivation to do this was that I wanted to socket one of my SMS's BIOS for experimentation and I figured I would test the different BIOSes in MEKA before proceeding.

Meka is not emulating BIOSes in a particularly accurate way, I suggest using another emulator for that. I think MesaDX is probably the most accurate in this respect.
