Time Soldiers the levels even thou continous have their individual parts played out of order, so player often spawn in those locations that were marked, teleporting from the mid-boss of another level.
I think that choice makes sense.

Bock understood my choice for Time Sodiers. For this game I wondered about the fact that for the same level, there are 3 different entries, and that I could cut them into 3 pieces.
But I preferred to assemble its because its form a loop.
I am more bored by Danan because I chose to use black and white for the levels that were indoor / outdoor. For that, I was inspired by Alex Kidd's map: High Tech World.
But I do not really like the final result.

Ultima IV Dungeons Maps
Post Posted: Sat Sep 21, 2019 3:50 pm
Hello,
I finally made maps for the Ultima IV dungeons.
It took a lot of time, but I'm glad I could do it.
Maybe these ones will not please everyone. But I find its good, even if I think that improvements would be possible.

So, I made these: http://www.smspower.org/Maps/RainbowIslands-SMS

Admins, please note: due to me being a bit rusty with wiki uploads, I left 3 files which should be permanently deleted, something which I don't have the power to do, I apologise for that. Two of them were correct to begin with and I overwrote them by mistake, while the other one has a completely wrong filename altogether (I initially forgot that hyphens aren't allowed in filenames).

Aside from this small problem, I hope you can enjoy those maps. It took me a lot of time to prepare these, but I'm happy because I learnt a thing or two in the process.

After several years of work, I finally finished Y's maps.
A great "Thank You" to Bock and Maxim for their contributions.

And a little bonus, the Tatooine's map.

Maps look good. I guess we don't have level names? The inter level shield screens are almost giving level names...

Unfortunately, there are no name for these levels in the notebook.
Inter Level screens is a good idea.

Are the levels not identical to Asterix and the Secret Mission?

The maps are probably identical, or very close. I will look in the next few days to make a version with Asterix. In my opinion, only the sprites should be different

Asterix and the Secret Mission Maps
Post Posted: Sat May 09, 2020 8:30 am
Hello, I published the maps of Asterix and to my surprise there are quite a few differences between the 2 games.

https://www.smspower.org/Maps/AsterixAndTheSecretMission-SMS

Sometimes I understand, the first level is a too strong reference to Asterix. But sometimes it is incomprehensible the "SeaBed" (Obelix), the ship, the night vs the day in the desert, but why?
The bonus levels are also very different for no reason ...
I have attached the list of differences that I have found.

Interesting. My guess is that some of the changes are references to the cartoon that I don’t know (the ship), and others are just because they made it from source that wasn’t the version shipped as Asterix, so there were a few differences in level layout, although it’s unclear which is later.

RoboCop vs The Terminator Maps
Post Posted: Wed Jun 17, 2020 4:54 pm
Hello, here are the maps for RoboCop vs The Terminator.
https://www.smspower.org/Maps/RoboCopVersusTheTerminator-SMS

I recently discovered this game, until now, I only knew it for its 'Classic' Edition.
I really liked it, and I told myself that it would be worth to make maps. Maybe that would decide some of you to play it.
For fans I also add here, a version without sprites (bonus, turrets ...)

Whilst working on my guide book I was disappointed to find there weren't any maps for Asterix and the Great Rescue. Luckily I came across Maxim's hack, so I decided to create maps myself.

It was a lot of work but I think I've mapped every item, enemy and secret platform. I've attached all 30 levels in a ZIP file. I realised shortly after finishing though, that some level and enemy layouts vary depending on the difficulty, so it should be noted that these maps are for the Easy setting.

After spending a lot of time on this game, I think it's fair to say that graphically it's beautiful, easily one of the best on the system. It's actually a very good game once you give it a chance too.

It is a very good job.
I like this game, even if the controls are not great.
It would be perfect, if we could visualize the starting point of each level.

If you want, soon, I will compress them, make the thumbnails and add to the site.

Interesting fact: the Special Stages in the Game Gear version of Sonic 1 are all in the same "map": https://forums.sonicretro.org/index.php?posts/975267/.

When I ripped the Sonic 1 maps (in-engine) it had a “feature” where it’d corrupt the game if you went past the level limits, so it’s possible I didn’t rip them properly to see any such map-sharing.

We also lack the Game Gear maps...

No, I think you did it right, that post specifically says that the Game Gear version uses this shared map "unlike the Master System version". Perhaps you should coordinate with him since both smspower and Sonic Retro have the goal to create good maps, and he is doing quite a great job in that department.

Hello,
I finally added your maps.
I allowed myself to add the mercenary at the start of each level.
In addition, I added some tiles at the bottom of the maps when I found them interesting.

There's also a level select cheat which makes it easy.

Anyway, I determined that ROM location $23768 is the starting X position (16 bits). Setting it to 00 00 (x = 0) gets me the left side and 00 01 (x = 256) gets me the right side. I've updated the map at https://www.smspower.org/Maps/StarWars-SMS?gallerypage=Trench+Attack+Run, but it may take some time to come through the caches.

Missing Maps
Post Posted: Tue Jan 18, 2022 3:48 pm
Hello,
I'm mostly addressing Maxim here, as I believe he has good connections with VGMMap and especially Will Mallia.
I noticed that several of his maps weren't added here. I don't know if it's intentional? or if he doesn't want to?
Because some seem to be very good to me (Tennis Ace, Super Off Road, SpellCaster, Samgukji III, Solomon no Kagi).
If there is no problem, I will add these ones.

Otherwise, lately I added maps for Super Smash TV, Super Space Invaders, The Smurfs, Strider, Sapo Xule SOS Lagoa Poluida

I don’t know how to add them because I’m dumm, but I made maps for the 50 levels of Pop Breaker for Sega Retro, which I’d like to be added to SMS Power if possible. Also Bust-a-Move and Magical Puzzle Popils.

Also, I’ve been adding a lot of SMS Power maps to Sega Retro (with attribution), which I hope everyone is okay with.

Thanks so much for the POPILS maps!

Did you know there's a secret stage 0? You get it by finishing each level by equalling or beating the target mapper step counts.

Coincidentally just today I was making a twitter thread about the rom hack of the game Junosix and I did, so I included your a link to your maps.

I recently completed a full set of Sonic Chaos SMS maps with objects for Sonic Retro (I'm Bobblen over there btw)
https://info.sonicretro.org/Sonic_Chaos/Maps

The maps were produced using Glitch's Aspect Edit level editor
http://info.sonicretro.org/Aspect_Edit

The list of objects was generated using Rolken's map generation php script, which I hacked up to just spit out object data with co-ordinates converted to decimal.
https://forums.sonicretro.org/index.php?threads/sonic-2-chaos-triple-trouble-map...
I then tediously pasted and aligned sprite rips onto the maps in GIMP.

There were a few mildly interesting things to come out of it, invisible springs, objects out of bounds or in walls, that sort of thing. There's a discussion here about what was found.
https://forums.sonicretro.org/index.php?threads/i-want-your-maps.37946/page-10

Anyway, I'd like to offer these maps to smspower as well. Do I just attach them to a post in this thread, or will that hit some kind of attachment size limit?
