Both packs (this one and Rastan) uploaded.
Also I did some small corrections, like adjusting the volume and trimming silence from the end of of non-looping songs.

[Non Sega 8-bit VGM Pack] Namco Disk Magazine
Post Posted: Mon Oct 31, 2011 5:13 pm
Last edited by Sonic of 8! on Tue Nov 01, 2011 1:53 am; edited 1 time in total
My first MSX2 VGM Pack!

Namco Community Disk Magazine is a compilation of 6 Namco games that was developed in MSX1, like Konami Game Collection. But the games was not received enhancements like FM-PAC (Konami put SCC support).

This is the FM version. I don't know a way to force MSX FM games to run in PSG.

So, Have Fun!

Uploaded.

To force MSX game to run with PSG, you can
a) select a machine that doesn't have an FM chip
or
b) edit share\machines\#MachineName#\hardwareconfig.xml
You have to remove the <primary>...</primary> block with the fmpac files and it should work.

Btw: Shouldn't the description file say "MSX-Music" instead of "MSX-AUDIO"?

NGDM was created on MESS (running MSX2+, the most powerful MSX machine on MESS), and all machines was the YM2413, SCC, and Cassete Audio built-in (including MSX 1 machines).

Hmm ... it seems that MESS always includes the most common MSX add-ons.
Try to delete fmpac.rom from msx2p.zip. It disabled FM for me in Final Fantasy MSX.

If that doesn't work, you can only use openMSX.

Pack uploaded.
I shortened "Gal Agiese" a little. (12 seconds was way too much time to let the tone fade, imo)

But it's nice to see some NeoGeo music. And it has some really good tracks.

The Non Sega 8-bit VGM Pack release thread
Post Posted: Wed Nov 02, 2011 8:16 pm
It's an idea I already had some while ago. In order to reduce the amount of new off-topic threads:

All coming non Sega 8-bit VGM packs should be released in this thread.

Oh well... Good time...

If you like Terra Cresta and the games made by TC board, you may download Dangar: Ufo Robo (it uses YM3526 and you don't need to disable the Emulate at true sampling rate at YM2413 tab).

But if you are a Compile / Disc Station disks fan, you can download the menu music (YM2413)!

Have Fun!

I've been merging the old Non Sega 8-bit VGM pack threads into this one. This should take a few days. Let us know if this is causing any trouble.

Now, made in PSG.

The next VGM Pack can be Space Harrier, Bouken Roman or FM-PAC...

MESS don't support MSX-AUDIO, because I tried to put Family Stadium and MSX-AUDIO (both "Pana" and Toshiba carts) and the music/sfx didn't play. And maybe don't support R-TYPE mapper...

I uploaded 4 of the 5 recent packs.
I have to work a little on Nam-1975, because 2 of its tracks (Sub Theme, Shivering) need to be looped. I'll do that tomorrow.

Comments on some of the packs:
- Fatal Fury: "Sea Knows" simply rocks (I love it since I heard it in the first level of the Sonic Chaos Revolution fangame.)
- Disk Station: oh, its music is sooo nice
I want more MSX FM music :)
(btw: changed vgm version for the Disk Station FM tracks from v1.51 to v1.50 to increase compatibility, e.g. for foo_gep)

It was a little confusing at first, but I'm okay with it.

That's what the openMSX mod is for. Once you get it running, it's as good as or even better than MESS.

I found a nice thing on Disc (called disk at time) Station #0!

When I was reading the content, in disk, I find a ported SG-1000 game! It's Hustle Chummy (released by Compile anyway)! The sound has scaled down to AY's deafult origins, but the fun was remained!

And so, I was find Sega SG-1000 word on the contents (SEGA NO SG-1000...).

Madou Monogatari 1-2-3 coming...
Post Posted: Fri Nov 11, 2011 1:33 am
In Disc Station #20 Disk B, Compile put a Jukebox for the all Madou Monogatari games (that was re-released for Game Gear in future). So, there is another MSX2 VGM Pack coming!

I include console names whenever there are multiple packs of the same game in the archive. (FM/PSG or different consoles)
For more information, there's always PackList.txt. It's sorted by the file name of the packs.

sorry valleybell, i've probably forgot to loop them as i wanted to release these musics before not having time left to complete them
i'll try to be more careful for new vgm packs i'll make (to be honest, i have a lot that are nearly completed, but i needed some time to complete tags, i'll recheck if everything is properly looped)
about sea knows, i found back a looped version on my hdd, probably i should be more organized and not have dozens of copies of musics in the same folder

@Wraithverge: Sorry, but at moment is impossible to ripping Salamander: Operation X, since they use SCC (K051469 or somethat), a chip that is not supported in in_vgm and you may hear only the PSG sound in VGM file.

Btw: I like Madou M. Because of comical japanese things (Puyo Puyo! and Gaooo! is two examples).

Also uploaded/updated.

Btw: What sort of bug is in Atropos? Also, if it was caused by stripping the AY, could you please post the unstripped file?
Just in case there is a bug in vgm_ptch.

Also something I noticed some while ago: The files in your vgm7z archives are gzip-compressed. I recommend to pack them uncompressed, so 7zip can compress them a little more.

The un-stripping of AY, was given a fake "Stereo" effect at start. The stripping of AY may resulted on this problem and a built-in Overdrive Sound in VGM file (like SMS FM Rips, when I strip SMSIII PSG).

It's seen to be good hearing Columns in YM3438, YM2612, HuC6280, SN76489, AY and YM2413, but how a idea to hear in YM2151?

The first X68000 VGM Pack can be coming! The Columns port for X68k is made by SystemSoft. But the X68k video support on MESS seems to be slow. So, you may can wait...

Oh - Mediafire just upgraded its graphics. (it looked better before)
Until I find a way around it or they fix the problem, PackList.txt is here.

I will also post direct links to the vgm7z and zip files instead of a link to the folder for future packs.

Oh well, My Files on MF work again (but I cannot advance) on Opera Mini...

I working on a Coreland (ops, I mean Banpresto...) GB game, accepting a request of Pixel_Crusher (Project2612 users may know him): is one of SD (but not SD Gundam) series. But there are 11 musics in GBS file, and I don't have the ROM, so, anyone know the musics of the game?

ValleyBell, would it be possible to add MSM-6295 logging to your M1 mod - I'd love to tackle Manabu Namiki's sublime Battle Garrega score, and so far all that's logged is YM2151.

I think that shouldn't be a problem. The vgm writer in M1 already supports it, so I just need to add some code in the actual emulator.

@Sonic Of 8!: It's nice to hear that MF works for you. So I don't need to post the PackList-link every time.

HuC6280 is WIP, Pokey is planned.
I haven't any plans for the K* series, but I think of adding some of the chips that have 4+ channels.
Same for MSM series.

RF5C400 and AICA (and SCSP) need 16-bit commands, so I need to think a little about the best way to add them. i.e. maybe with v1.70.

TIA is currently not planned.

New System 16A VGM Pack: Action Fighter.

Now only Body Slam seems to complete the all S16A VGM Packs. Now in concentrate in making a S16B VGM Pack for Bock (like WB Monster Lair or Aurail, two games developed by Westone) to give a gift to his birthday.

It seems that this topic is closed...

Don't worry Bock, I choosen WB III Monster Lair as your VGM Pack gift (preffered over Aurail and Riot City, because both of them has a bigger amount of musics, but both of them can be a first pack to use UPD7759, because Monster Lair don't use), and is done in this week.
