Thanks man! I really wanted to use this in a simple homebrew demo but haven't gotten around to learning Z80 asm and such yet.

This is my fav music entry of them all :)

Criteria:
HW usage: Scoring for limited-channels chip synth is not like scoring for an ensemble. Knowing how to milk the capacity of the chip and use all the channels all the time (within creative intent) without one stepping on another is a science. Knowing how to make the chip sound like it has more channels than it does is an art.
Lyricality: The difference between that vintage console background theme that's stuck in your head 20 years later and the full orchestral next-gen PC soundscape that is amazing but which you can't quite remember 10 minutes later. Does the groove- the heart- the core of the piece stick in your head? Could you reduce it to a memorable sequence of single notes on a piano or square wave?
Flow: Is there variety, or is the track one constantly looped phrase that gets stale? Do sections with various flavors connect smoothly and feel like part of the same piece?
Scope: How much content is there, and for how long? Where does it sound like you were aiming when you made the track? A 30-second loop of cheap BGM, or a piece of performance art?

Technically very impressive, and musically pretty good too :) More demo-like than game-like, perhaps not something you can hum to yourself. I'm still wondering what the title means...

Thanks! It's more demo-ish indeed, considering the riff change at 1:46 for instance. In-game music for 8-bit video games usually have a more continuous feel imo, especially regarding drum beats and keys.

The title is a Swedish sentence ("en värd fyra-jävel" with umlauts, which is the proper spelling) from a funny YouTube video. It's an idiomatic way of saying "a damn fine four-piece", which taken out of context sort of alludes to the four channels of the PSG =)

I've listened to this song for days now , such a catchy tune that really uses the potential of the SMS sounchip.

Sounds like a fitting intro/ ending song for a game.

It's hard to get this tune out of my head. Great stuff. :) The background part reminds me of Giana Sisters on C64.
