Can I modify my SMS to output 60Hz signal?

Yes, certainly - see Mark Knibbs's document:

SMS 50/60Hz Modification Guide

It gives details for both the SMS 1 and SMS 2.

The modification does work perfectly on a Master System II (ignore the part about the details being preliminary).

It actually ain't too bad - you can cut the pin near the base if you're not too confident about desoldering it.

Here's a (not very good) photo of my SMS 2 showing the 50/60Hz mod and other stuff:



Key:

1 SCART A/V cable
2 RGB mod
3 BIOS switch (US/Japanese)
4 50/60Hz switch
5 Language switch (English/Japanese)
6 dual BIOS EPROM (with both US and Japanese versions)
7 Language switch connected between pin 23 of 315-5237 and Ground
8 Reset button connected between pin 33 of 315-5237 and Ground
9 50/60Hz switch connected between pin 57 of 315-5246 and Ground/+5v
10 Reset button

11 and 12 are Ground and +5 volt wires, respectively. *nt*
