What i thought about the entries for the master system and genesis in the Y2kode competition:

Master System:

Damiana:
This is very cool! Nice grafics! The game was little short maybe.
The controls are working fine, and the collision detection is also working fine. Very fun game!
The text in the beginning had a very nice grafic effect!

Happy Loser:
Wow! This is also very cool! There was a lot of cool effects in it,i like the wavey effect when the logo came.
And this is the first time i hear anyone else than myself to call Play***ion for crapstation. Thats right! Buy a Master System instead!

Genesis:

Ooga Booga:
Amazing! Very cool grafic and good gameplay. Cool effects to!
The only sad thing is that it didn´t worked right on KGEN98.
Really cool!

(About Heliophobe's entry, obviously. I haven't tried any of the other yet. Will do ASAP)

I should have congratulated Heliophobe earlier for it.
At first it didn't look fantastic to me, but knowing the pain it is to code a clean engine on such
system, my high respect is given to this piece of work. Nice job!

I will release my own sources soon. Maybe it would be of some use to anybody, but they
aren't very well commented I think.

it's seems it's because KGen is the closest emulator to the true Genesis...
Someone test it on a dev board and report me the same problems that i had on KGen (hint : try to check on/off some of the video option to make it works (not the scroll A unfortunatly...)

I'm glad you like it. I'm proud of the metal text effect, pretty good for a 64 color palette.

Thank you!
Yeah, it doesn't seem like much, especially if you haven't developed for the SMS. It's not what's there that you really notice (all basic game elements), it's when there's something missing that you notice (BG variety, monster types, scoring.. the list goes on).

I might release a version of my own in time, or at least snippets to demonstrate some ideas. I need to tighten up a few routines though (collision detection's a bit pokey, if I added too much more to the game it would start to bog down I'm afraid.)

Yeah, that's very cool. Like mine it's more of a demonstration of a game engine than an actual game. You picked a more difficult format than me (platform game) and you pulled it off, nicely done!

It only worked on Genecyst for me.

thanks! :)
in fact, i'll restart from beginning writing a Tetris clone :)

writing a platform game was a little to hard for first dev :)

hmmm...
i tested it on several emu and only 3 didn't like it (fully i mean)....and they are WIP emu....

in Fact, i think KGen is the nearest emulator of Genesis...
it bugs when the Genny bugs....
i hated it but i'm starting to use it for better debugging...
