Multilevel '[list]' tags don't work

When you make nested '[list]' tags in your post, you get a flat list as result.
Example of how it looks in my last post. |

Hello, I don't know if it is an error or not, but I have just realized that Ghostbusters has an american cover:
https://www.smspower.org/Scans/Ghostbusters-SMS-US-Front but it doesn't appear in the US releases list: https://www.smspower.org/Games-Releases/SMS-US and it does not have the american flag here: https://www.smspower.org/Games/SMS-G Thank you! |

emulator links
![]() |
It seems most of the emulator links on the home page are dead or don't point to the right URL anymore. MEKA, Emulicious, FreezeSMS, and Master Gear are the ones that still work. I'm not sure if pages still exist for some of the rest? BizHawk at least gets you to a link to their GitHub. MESS goes to the wrong place, but should be replaced by MAME nowadays anyway. Cheers!

VGM files with conflicting filenames
![]() |
Hi,
These zip files from vgm packs have conflict files for different systems: - Putt and Putter - Alex Kidd BMX Trial - WonderBoy (SG) - Choplifter (SG) - Rastan FM has same m3u/txt/png as PSG Would it be possible to edit the zip files on the vgm page so that the individual vgm filenames do not conflict ? Thanks. |

Lately, I've been getting an "Error 521" page whenever I try to access smspower.org from a desktop PC. It doesn't happen on my mobile device.
The page forwards me to the smspower start page after a couple of seconds, but only if I enter just the bare URL. If, for example, I try to access the forums directly by typing "smspower.org/forums", the browser stays on the error page. |

I get the 521 if I remove the 'www.' part from the URL
probably the DNS configuration needs some fix :

You know you can edit a private message while it's still in the "Outbox" (e.g. the recipient didn't see it yet), but doing so automatically prepends a "Re:" to the subject (which can still be removed by hand, but it might be annoying).

Cyborg Hunter info page
![]() |
The information page for Cyborg Hunter lists the European, North American and Brazilian releases as the same ROM, but I'm 100% sure the version I played as a kid was fully translated to Portuguese. It was built into a jet black SMS released around 2004 along with lots of other games, although I can't find this specific variation of the console documented online. It was an official Tec Toy product, though.
I'm not sure if the original cartridge release was localized though. |
|

That information is based on cartridge dumps. If there’s a localised built in version then we haven’t dumped it yet.

Tintin in Tibet credits
![]() |
There's a small mistake in the Tintin in Tibet credits section: The company that developed the game alongside Bit Managers is not IVP, it's IWP.
You can check out this in the Spirou credits section, which was developed by the same people and where this information can be noticed a little better, with a clearer game font. Also, I guess it wouldn't be bad to add hyperlinks to both Bit Managers and IWP in the Tintin in Tibet credits section, exactly like it's done in the Spirou credits section. |

Users, beware!

Users, beware! The scam user - StefankaErurF, sends the spam private messages, with an offer to download a software and start to earn an "easy money". The scammer also added the links. In case you'll get a massage from this scam user, don't hit any links, don't download any thing from the links and don't install any software which he may offer you. It's necessary for your private safety.

As mentioned elsewhere, new users can't post links before they made a few other legitimate posts. You can creatively dodge the filter (e.g. by writing www*something*com) and let someone else fix the links for you in the mean time.

Opa Opa has the code G-1343 (not G-1342).
Also I think Lode Runner and Soukoban should be added in the Cassette Drive tag. They use it to save the custom levels. |

Refreash of Emulator list
![]() |
Hi,
I found some dead links in the console emulator list. One is S8DS which has moved to github: https://github.com/FluBBaOfWard/S8DS Also it would be nice if someone with editing access went thru all the links to see which ones are still live and which ones has moved to a new place, or to archive.org |

I fixed a few links. I’m sure there are many emulators missing from this list; but we don’t have resources to try to keep a well maintained reference source.

Error: Super Battletank GG release Date
![]() |
on the games page the game "Super Battletank" is listed as released in 1994, which doesnt seem to be the case, it might've been planned for a 1994 release date and was finished by then but it wasnt released until 2000-01 when majesco gained the manufacturing rights to make the game gear in North America for a short amount of time as a toys-r-us/amazon exclusive, they also re-released several games (hence why you can see games like the jungle book or aladdin with modern ESRB ratings, sealed for about 20$ on the web)
the reason i say 2000-01 is because its not exactly concrete when this was, some websites including amazon (which is where it was exclusively sold online at the time) list it as coming out in 2000, but some places like magazines of the time state it came out in 2001 as seen in gamepro issue 152. either way the release date was NOT 1994 |

Someone kindly e-mailed me with a list of small things that could potentially be fixed. Posting them here for traceability.
" These are full ROM downloads, which I don't think you want: - GG Portrait: Pai Chen - Nazo Puyo 2 v0.99 - Off the Wall - Phantasy Star Adventure v1.1 - Star Wars (Europe/Alt) v0.2 - Tarzan: Lord of the Jungle Other remarks: - Crayon Shin-chan: Taiketsu! Kantam Panic!!: The v1.1 download is not a ZIP file but an IPS file with the wrong extensions. - Crazy Faces, Home Alone, and Pop Breaker: Both downloads are the same. - GG Shinobi, The: v1.1 also contains the v1.0. - NFL '95: There is a patch for Madden NFL on that page, but that's a different game. - Royal Stone: Hirakareshi Toki no Tobira: A Japanese version 1.0 is mentioned on the page, but not in any download. - Sonic Drift 2: b2 and v1.0 downloads are the same. v0.2 turns Sonic Drift 2 into Sonic Drift 1 (with the 0.2 hack). - Soukoban: v1.0 contains only the readme. - There a many instances where the download lists contains lines with only size but now download. Hope that helps a bit. " |

These all seem to refer to GG2SMS patches which are a bit chaotic…
The blank lines issue is the attachment table, it shows this for deleted files. Hard deleting them is one fix, me updating the script is the longer-term fix. |

I was searching fellow Andorrans in this forums and found that most of them are Russian bots. Also, some "users" use the "location" text field to advertise things like sex... As many of these have 0 posts, has anybody considered filtering users by their number of posts? |

I occasionally remove thousands of spam accounts. The hard part is not accidentally deleting valid users.

I would like to propose some solutions to the issue: 1) Place a presentations thread and make it mandatory to present oneself so there can be at least one post. 2) With 1) one can crack down 0-post accounts yearly (or monthly or whatever one would want to). 3) Place a hidden (with css) text field both in the account creation and the account control and ban any user that writes to it. If someone writes there, it's because it must be a bot. What do you think about those measures? EDIT: I haven't invented those, they are just some measures I have seen being implemented in other forums to protect themselves. |

A few small corrections to note if I've worked this out correctly. Primarily referencing the Master System in Europe release list.
If I'm correct the changes would be; 3 games missing from the European release page (WWF WrestleMania Steel Cage Challenge, Wolfchild, Sapo Xulé S.O.S. Lagoa Poluída) 2 Brazil Exclusive tags to be removed (Sapo Xulé S.O.S. Lagoa Poluída, Game Box Série Esportes) Cross referencing some other site pages showing Portuguese releases for example, and 8bitboyUK's video which shows the PAL copies of WWF and Wolfchild. In the case of "WWF WrestleMania Steel Cage Challenge", I saw it was Discussed previously, at the time removing the Brazil Exclusive tag, but looks to have not gone on the Europe release page. "Wolfchild" seems to not have a noted release, but is not in the unreleased game section either, and a physical copy is in 8bitboyUK's video. The case of the other two Portuguese released games seems similar. Both "Sapo Xulé S.O.S. Lagoa Poluída" and "Game Box Série Esportes" currently have the Brazil Exclusive tag, but show Portugal too. "Game Box" is already in the European release page too, but not "Sapo Xulé S.O.S. Lagoa Poluída". One other aspect to those Portuguese games as I attempted to find any other information online. According to no-intro, "Sapo Xulé S.O.S. Lagoa Poluída" has the one ROM dump that is noted as being both Brazil and Portugal. For "Game Box", as on the site, there is a notably similar named "Game Box Série Esportes Radicais", which has a dump for Brazil only. No hash for a dump of the Portuguese game on no-intro from what I can see. Here on the site "Game Box Série Esportes" (WITHOUT Radicais) does have some CRC32 dump values on the bottom. Perhaps no-intro is just missing an update to reflect this? Given the two seperate pages on the site too, I was a little confused about this one. Struggled to find any other info myself. Thanks very much! |

Thank you Mark!
> 3 games missing from the European release page (WWF WrestleMania Steel Cage Challenge, Wolfchild, Sapo Xulé S.O.S. Lagoa Poluída) Added the two first ones (they didn't have releases added to games page). Sapo Xulé S.O.S. Lagoa Poluída was already there. Also removed Brazil Exclusive tags from the two games. "Game Box Série Esportes Radicais" is a unique rom and therefore has a dump, but is only available in Brasil. "Game Box Série Esportes" is a 3-in-1 that use a custom mapper cycling between 3 roms. It's available in Brasil and Portugal. In Portugal it is simply called "Game Box" hence the listing at https://www.smspower.org/Games-Releases/SMS-EU The game has 3 separate dumps for each of the game. The two dumps which are unique to this 3-in-1 (as Great Volleyball is the same as the standalone cartridge) were released here fairly recently https://www.smspower.org/forums/18978 and have been to no-intro yet but without reference to their "hosting" cartridge in the label, however its in their metadata field: https://datomatic.no-intro.org/index.php?page=show_record&s=26&n=0672 https://datomatic.no-intro.org/index.php?page=show_record&s=26&n=0673 |

Thanks very much for looking into it Bock.
Apologies for the false "Sapo Xulé S.O.S. Lagoa Poluída" report, my eyes had gone right past it! Glad to help with the few tags. I'd not appreciated how at least some of these multi-game cartridges can boot before. Booting multiple games by switching on and off rather than having a selection menu, I can only appreciate they are an odd case. No-intro similarly don't have a listing even for the far more common European game "Master Games 1", but I wonder if a dump of the whole cartridge ROM at once (if that is even done?) would be playable on anything other than the original cartridge. Fascinating how that mapper was done! Thanks for linking the data noting those two recent dumps are tied to "Multicart rip from "Game Box Serie Esportes" (the Brazilian 3-in-1 cart)". It's been interesting to see a little of how that preservation is done. Thanks for all your efforts! |
|

In theory we could be dumping the whole ROM chip, bypassing the mapper, and releasing a single file, but it would requires designing a new mapper that every emulator would need to handle based on e.g. a checksum or other custom settings to identify the dump.
Some systems like SNES, especially with the work of Byuu (rip) went into designing lower-level file formats that contains info about the entire cartridge circuity. Byuu wanted every game to be re-released using this system. This is absolutely great and "more correct" in theory and in term of preservation, but in practice it's enormous amount of work for rather little benefit for 99.99% of the user base. |
