the 'bonus stage' music is incomplete - the bit thats been recorded should play twice then theres another small piece. the only reason i listen to some of these tunes is to here the small pieces at the end :) |

Damn! I actually trimmed that file ages ago, so I claim that as my excuse. I've not been making VGMs for a while now (I'm working on the new plugin, slowly) so maybe I've lost my touch... Maxim |

[VGM pack] Sonic the Hedgehog

This pack needed an update. (I wanted to do this update some time ago.)
Some songs started too late (e.g. Title Screen) or the loop was bad (Labyrinth Zone). I relogged the complete pack (because it wasn't a lot of work) using Maxim's Music-Hack. I also used vgm_cmp to compress the vgms (most of them to 30% of their original size). http://www.smspower.org/Music/SonicTheHedgehog-SMS EDIT: Moved music list to Memory Hacks-page |

I fixed the development-pages problem.
VGMTool has always had a PSG optimiser; did you compare it to yours? |

You're right. I forgot this one.
I compared both and VGMTool seems to make the files a little smaller than vgm_cmp. I also compared wave-files of all three files (unoptimized, VGMTool, vgm_cmp). The vgm_cmp-file machtes the unoptimized one. The VGMTool-file was a little different. (sample-by-sample comparison, but nothing audible) |

You need to update the page accordingly :) it does not react to file uploads alone...
The playlist generator seems broken, I'll take a look tomorrow. |

It turns out your VGM pack was wrong - the filenames in the M3U did not match the file names on disk ("the" vs. "The"). I've made the playlist generation script give a better error in this case.
You should always regenerate and double-check the playlist page after uploading a file. You had two tag typos which I've also fixed. |

Thanks. I'm very sorry for this.
I also fixed the wrong Japanese tag of Bridge Zone. |

On his Early Collections 2nd+ album, Koshiro has some of the Sonic 1 music he composed. On there, there's Stage BGM A (Bridge), Stage BGM B (Jungle), Stage BGM C (Labyrinth), Stage BGM D (Scrap Brain), Boss BGM and Bonus Stage.
While I'm at it, I'd like to bring up a much better name for those tracks you call "Death." Use "Miss" instead; it's the standard for an official track name, whereas "Death" is not. |

While "Miss" might be common in OSTs, it's a terrible name for a track. The A/B track names seem worse than the stage names to me, even though we normally prefer OST names where possible.

This is a tiny quibble, but the Ending track incorporates the melody of Green Hill Zone, so shouldn't Masato Nakamura get a co-credit? Similarly, the Death theme is based on the Title theme.
