Coleco
Post Posted: Tue Aug 21, 2007 1:27 am
Hello,

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to configure the Coleco aspect of Meka by defining keys from the numeral pad to a defined keyboard button. I would like to have Coleco working on my Advmame cab. Because my player 1 start button on my cab is mapped to button 1 I can play. The problem is I need to map other buttons to be able to play after a game ends. Also the second joystick while playing coleco games doesnt load the meka.inp the controls go back to default.? ???

Thanks in advance.

Yeah sorry, the keypad is not remappable.
If you really want Meka (not another emulator) the only way right now is to recompile the code with changed keys, that is until full key remapping is provided, which I can't provide a date for.

I'm not sure about the second joystick, it should be properly saved.

No, I dropped the DOS version since a while.
I can make you a custom build of 0.72 for Windows provided keymapping.

I thank you for the offer but my ADVmame machine is DOS only. Having it DOS makes it full proof.. May I ask why you dont work on the DOS port anymore? Is it possible to remamp the buttons for dos?
Since I have your attention, is it posible to have Meka run in a resolution that will take up the entire screen, using a video TSR (arcade monitor) under dos?
Thanks..

Jason

PS MEKA ROCKS!!
Im playing COLECOVISION right now!!

I'm not maintaining the DOS port anymore because DOS is dead since quite a long time. Frankly, I must admit that MEKA is of better quality under DOS, but it's just too difficult to evolve and add software features while trying to keep compatible with DOS. I would not mind if someone wanted to maintain this port and keep it up to date, but I'm not going to do it.
Maybe you can use a TSR to remap keyboard scancodes, or something like that?

Newer version of MEKA have various stretching functions, including being able to stretch from 256x192 to 1024x768 which is a perfect full-screen integer stretch, but latest DOS version doesn't have that.

it hught about a key board TSR but you are unable to turn it on and off withing ADVmenu so that option would creatw problems with other emulators and ADVmame. Do you think it would be possible to change the keys for your DOS source? Do you have the DOS source available yet?

Thanks .

The sources for the latest DOS version are available for download on MEKA homepage. I don't have the software to compile them on the computer I'm using now.

You could create a batch file to run the TSR, then MEKA, then disable the TSR.

I don't know about such TSR.
Use %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9 to pass up to 9 arguments from the batch file.
