Thanks for very good sort of Korean SMS games.
But I think that's not a perfect list. Actually I had a 8 in 1 cart released by Hicom when I was young... (I'm Korean, now studying abroad in Japan) And some titles of Korean orignal game are little bit strange (because of the translation problem of normal nouns and orignal nouns(ex : character names), I think), So I'll make a modified version later. |

I'd prefer to see original titles in Korean, with "official" romanisation (it seems "Revised Romanization" since 2000 is a bit controversial but it seems OK to me) and then a translation. Of course translation is tricky, but it's very nice to see this information becoming available :)
Run! Dodgeball King has code G9511-RP4. |

very nice list indeed!
I always wondered when taking a look at the korean games-section: Only the carts with the golden labels look really like official Samsung-releases. They look professional and are all legal soft one would expect from an official Sega-games-distributor. Those strange MSX-hacks that come on white carts look crappy like the game-label was just put over the blue samsung-sticker. Looks very cheap to me. And I also can't believe Samsung put out illegal Tetris-ports etc. Is it really certain these are all made by Samsung himself? |

What about The Micro Xevious from Zemina? | |

Thank you good advice Maxim!
>original titles in Korean Sorry There is a difficult problem in my input of Korean. Becouse I cannot input Korean with the keyboard. Therefore, I cannot easily make it. >Run! Dodgeball King has code G9511-RP4. Thank you good advice. ////// Thank you good question Gest! To the start I do not know the fact of Korea official items. >Only the carts with the golden labels look really like official Samsung-releases. Yes I also think so. But I think that all GOLD CARTRIDGE is not official release. But sorry The positive proof is not obtained in the my current material. Please help GOLD CARTRIDGE infomation and Cartrige No and relesed titles. >I always wondered when taking a look at the korean games-section: >Only the carts with the golden labels look really like official Samsung-releases. I have some stories imagined without permission. 1)Samusung formally sells official sega SMS games. But other SMS game was sold without permission. If it is so, it is not necessary to sell officialy sega SMS games. 2)At that time, only three kinds of game machines were put on the market. There is a possibility that the company name expressed the game machine. Hyundai = Familycomputer (NES), Zemina = MSX , Samsung= Gamboy(SMS) Then these used Samsung logo. But TETRIS doesn't apply. It writes in the package. Saler; Samsung Maker; S.H.ENG 3) There was sold to Samusong without permission. I do not have the good idea that satisfies it. //////// >What about The Micro Xevious from Zemina? Yes Xevious that the company in Korea had produced in the original seems to have been put on the market It is the one different from MSX Xevious of Japan. /////// Thank you LEADKUN! Great helps! |

Thank you for your work, Gemer and others.
It's a great list to start with. We can probably improve it alltogether along with time. |

Thank you for the explanations!
So it does say the maker of Tetris is S.H.ENG? This is good to know. So at least Samsung did not develop this game which would have surprised me. Where we are just talking about korean stuff: Is there any source for korean Mega Drive games too? Bock dumped some carts in the past. There are probably still some undumped games out there. When Samsung translated Phantasy Star for sms they possibly did this too with PS2, 3 etc. |

Funny you should ask - Kenneth is currently spearheading an ongoing investigation/discussion into them at the excellent French MD site, Guardiana ;) http://forums.guardiana.net/viewtopic.php?p=4811 |

Samsung released PS 2, 3, and 4 in the Korean market, but they are all English versions. But Samsung translated 3 great RPGs into Korean. They're Story of Thor("Beyond Oasis" in Genesis), Neo Genesis Ragnacenty("Crusader of Centy" in Genesis), and Light Crusader. And they also made a original shooting game "우주 거북선(Uju Geobukseon)", which means "Space Turtle Battleship", |

This is great info. They also translated Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle into korean. So this means the games that were dumped by Bock are basically the only known ones translated to korean language? This would be good news though it would surprise me if we already have all. And they didn't put their logo in some of the games they released which would still mean a different rom?
Any hint on undumped korean language games for any console system (not pirates) are welcome. If there is anything for snes, n64 etc. that you know of please feel free to post. (Currently I only know of Pokemon Eun(silver) for GBC) |

In Ni****do systems, there are some kinds of translated titles... -SNES(Super Com-Boy) 한국프로야구(Hanguk Pro Yagu)means "Korean Pro Baseball", originally Jaleco's somekind of baseball game(I forgot the name). Translated by Hyundai(official Korean seller of NES/SNES/old GB) Team and player names also changed into Korean ones. 태권도(Taekwondo) - from Human. Taekwondo(Korean martial art) game. it has Korean mode and Japanese mode. - Game Boy Color Pocket Monsters Geum/Eun(Gold/Silver) - from Daewon, Korean seller of later Ni****do console(GBA/GameCube). Bomber Man Collection - also from Daewon. The only translated part is select screen(games are in English) - Game Boy Advance Dragon Ball Advance Adventure - from Bandai Korea/Daewon. One Peace Going Baseball - Same. |

Thank you!
Bomberman C. was unknown to me. So we have this and Pokemon Eun to dump now. Finding them will be hard though... |

Couple of minor additions:
The part number for Samsung's version of Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars is GB-2347, and Super Wonder Boy is GB-1316. I've also got a 45-in-1 multicart that doesn't appear to be on the list. I'll try to get some pics of it sorted over the next couple of days... |

Is this the same as the arcade game "Turtle ship", made by Philko, which was imported in small numbers to Japan? According to http://angelheartclub.hp.infoseek.co.jp/encyclofakea/index3p3.html#p3, they also made the vertical shooting game Dyger and the Tetris clone Xyonix. |

Somewhat delayed reply here, but better late than never: No, it's not the same game, judging by the KLOV shots of Turtle Ship anyway - Space Turtle Battleship is a vertical scroller, and a not-particularly inspried one at that. |

Some additions (games I own)
GB-1305 Action Fighter SAMSUNG / SMS / B / ? GB-1002JG COLUMNS SAMSUNG / SMS / B / P I also own 5 or 6 of the white Korean titles (unboxed) that have the poor quality labels and are marked "Gamboy Rompack" (Flicky, Circus Charlie, Great Baseball etc.) and these have no obvious numbering on them. The cases on these "clip" together (no screws) and I've opened up Flicky and it has a very small PCB that contains a single 27256-35/3 Eprom (exposed window) - no markings on the pcb but a number "38" hand sharpied on the ROM. |
